Flooded '08 Seville VF35CK

Iwas unfortunate enough to have an flooding accident in my fairly new trailer. I am living in my unit. I went out for the day and came home to the tap on and water overflowing all out of the kitchen sink and about 2-4 inches on the floor surrounding it. It happened almost a week ago now and still no repairs or anything from my insurance. The furnace was taken out by the water, so I don't have heat. Has this happened to anyone before and what did they do? My insurance has stated that it has to be brought up to 100% or they will not fix it. Is this possible with readings of moisture in the walls and in the floor still of over 95%??? My going concern is mold and will it be totally removed if there is any??

Funny how such a small mistake can be so costly. I caught this exact error, one of my daughter's (4) left the water running in the bathroom, luckily I came in to find the water just starting to overflow and I was able to pickup all the water with a laundry towel. No harm no foul...



If the insurance doesn't want to repair the unit then tell them to write you a check for the loss and pick it up. If I were the ins. comp. I would be nervous too given the real possibility of dry rot, mold and other water-borne issues.



Unless you plan on sending this unit back to Randy at the factory I don't even think I could trust a regular dealer to repair that scope of damage. Good luck.

I had a buddy who had a Jayco Designer, a water line burst whilr they were gone and it flooded the trailer, about an inch of water, the unit was totaled by the insurance company and was scrapped, if I were in your shoes I would want the unit totaled, it's just a trailer, and there are millions of them out there, then buy yourself another trailer, you have no idea of whats in the walls, or when the rot damage will start to show, push for getting it scrapped.......

Has the ins. company sent out an adjuster yet ??,,,if not turn the water back on for a day and make sure it's 100 %.......are you saying they won't total it til a 100 % of value damage has occured ??,,,but they will cut you a check for the cost to fix the damage that's there ,,huh ??

We have a little piece of paper in bold right by the door as we go out that reads "Turn Off Water If Leaving Trailer". Even with a pressure regulator I don't trust RV plumbing. Hope you get everything worked out to your satisfaction.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I agree with Hunter 11, if we are leaving for any amount of time I shut the water off at the outside spigot. I have heard and seen to many experiences with piping problems in trailers to trust bad things not to happen.

I'm sold. Water will be turned off at the outside spigot when leaving the trailer for the day.

Pat, whatever happened with your trailer, were you able to get everything dried out?
