We took delivery of our 2009 Seville 34CK last July and started fulltiming in it last August. When we got to Texas we were on metered hydro @ $ .15KW. Got a supprisingly high hydro bill after a month considering we didn't use the air. After a little exploratory work it appears that the fridge is using 10 KW per day all by itself which is more than double the rest of my usage. Talked to Norcold and they confirmed that the fridge is rated at 768 watts per hour. This is more than double a standard 8 cubic foot RV fridge and way more than your fullsize household unit. I know it is large but do the math.

10 KW X $ .15 = $1.50per dayX 365 = $547.50 per year X 10 years (estimated lifespan) = $5475.00 just to keep food cold. Think I would rather have a smaller unit and a little more cupboard space. Anyone else have any experience with the Polarmax fridges?

Ouch... Would running on propane be any less money? If you ona seasonal site could get larger propane tanks.

Well, the fridge continues to be a bone of contention around here. Yesterday the freezer stopped working. Fresh food section cooling fine just above freezing but the freezer was a balmy 50F. Not good. Called Norcold and all they could do was give me a list of possible repair sites in the RGV and had the gall to wish me luck. Most have no clue about the fridge and were unwilling to get into it because of the size of this beast.I guess it is quite a job to take this thing out and if it has to be replaced you essentially have to take the trailer apart. One guy wouldn't believe me that it was frost free and he is supposed to be an authorized repair depot. Finally snagged a guy in the park on another service call who was willing to trouble-shoot it on site. Said he was going to call Norcold today as he feels it is an air circulation problem, ie. one of the fans has likely quit. Boy do I wish this thing just had a regular 8 cu. ft. RV fridge and a pantry instead of this energy hog!!!

Well my tech guy contacted Norcold about my problem. They almost immediately put the blame on Crossroads stating that they installed the units with improper read: too light of wiring. Apparently Crossroads is supposed to have an upgraded wiring harness available. He then calls Crossroad only to be informed that they recall seeing a memo along that line but anyone of any consequence had gone home for the day. (Indiana time) They said that they would have someone call him tomorrow. I'm wondering when they were planning on telling the owners of these units that they have defective wiring!!!

Call in the morning and ask to speak to Randy Mischler. That should save you some time and run around.

He must love you refering everyone to call him.

If he does not know he will go and find out. If he tells you he will call you back with in 15 minutes and doesn't, don't worry he will call back.

Just trying to save people some time and trouble. I asked him one time if he had any problem with me telling people his name on the forum and he told me that is my job I am glad to help. I have emailed his boss and told him what a fine job he does and how much the people of this forum appreciate his help and I got a response back thanking me for letting him know.

Ditto's, I contacted his boss first since Randy doesn't really use email as a contact. That person forwarded my inquiry to Randy who responded to me.

I was very pleased. In less then a few hours span they had looked at my pictures, made a note to my warranty file, invited me to have it repaired at the factory and had even given me the A-OK to camp at their onsite area.

Randy was a great help and has worked with the tech to resolve the wiring issue. In the mean time we found the freezercooling unit totally frosted up. Thawed it and the fan doesn't appear to be working properly to circulate air through the cooloing fins. Norcold advised that the improper wiring likely caused the circuitry to fail so are in the process of sending 8 yes count'em 8 new parts. At least all sides now appear to be working together to fix my fridge. We'll have to wait and see.

Repair tech came today, rewired the fridge and installed the new parts. First icecubes just bounced into the tray which is a good sign. Have to praise Crossroads and Norcold for a speedy and efficient response. Hopefully it might be a little more efficient now that it is powered by the proper guage of wire. Will keep you all posted.

Glad to hear the Crossroads and Norcold helped you out. Also, Randy was the reason I went with CR. I called several different mfg's and Randy returned my call promptly and answered my ??? honestly.Some saidwork with your local dealer andothers still haven't returned my call fromover 1 1/2 years ago. Keep a 1/4" nut driver handy and a hairdryer.About every 2 weeks like clockwork you will need to
remove the shield (right side of freezer) and thaw out your fins. I have ruined 3-4 hundred
dollars worth of food in discovering this little gem. Even after a factory supplied update for
this Norcold clunker it still freezes off. My advice: Go to Best Buy and purchase a small freezer
and load it into your cargo bay. Use the freezer in the kitchen for extra storage.
