Inspection of my roof on Sunday. I noticed a bow on the rear metal strip between rear cap and rubber roof. About a 1/4" or more flex up and down. Headed to Ace this morning for longer screws. Returned to find while repairing 7 of 9 were snapped off from over tightening. Drilled new holes. Installed longer screws. Nice and snug now.
Air guns, not good for quality control.

Good catch. I had the same thing happen on our front cap to roof transition. I had to re-drill new holes and lots of appropriate roof caulk. New SS screws too
It's so important to do an annual inspection on your roof. Sometimes more often in bad weather areas.

It mot be a bad idea to do a thorough inspection of the entire trailer - all the screws, all the caulking, as well as the roof. These units take a lot of abuse from movement and from the sun. I have heard horror stories of water getting in and causing a lot of damage.

I used an epoxy spray paint. I stuck them all in a piece of foam board to hold them and sprayed them. If they needed touch up after installing them, I used a small brush after I sprayed into a small plastic lid.

back in 2012 on our 2010 Cruiser.
I would recommend putting some kind of sealer on the new screws before installing them.
If you look around your area for a small mom and pop fastener shop, stainless is actually really inexpensive to get.

I was at the factory rally this year and someone noticed I had a screw missing on the trim over the wheels. When I took it to the factory I asked Randy to replace the screw. When I came back, both of the wheel trims had been replaced with new ones. They said the screws were so over-tightened that eventually they would all break off. They know this happens but can't seem to do anything about it. I think I will be replacing all of mine eventually too. I'm thinking the guy who did the trim may have done it all?
When you replaced them what length did you use? What it just 1/4" longer?

I replaced mine with the same size and length. As I did not know what was under the screws, I figured the same length would be best.

For the roof. I did go 1/4" longer. No problem.

When i did it, i used the same size SS screws to be sure i didn't go in too far. I just re drilled new holes in the trim and ply to be sure i had proper grip. Lots of roof caulk to patch old holes too.
So far, so good.
