Brake light / turn signal upgrade?

When I'm sitting at a red light at night and signaling to make a turn, I can see what feels like the entire planet strobing gold to black to gold to black from my truck's incredibly powerful blinkers (almost TOO powerful).

Comparing that to the turn signals on the back of my fifth wheel, those lights are hardly noticeable at all. I need all the help I can get when I initiate a lane change with this 45' beast of a trailer. But I can tell so many times that the other drivers are completely unaware that I'm signalling to make a turn. I've stood behind my trailer in the dark with the signals on, and the lamps are just too small and too weak to really warn surrounding cars that I'm moving over.

So I'm interested to know if anyone here has upgraded their turn signals on their rigs. Any advice?

Are the tail lights on your Elevation LED? If not I would convert the tail lights to LED and you should see a big difference. I did this to our rig, it was a nice simple upgrade. There are tail light specific conversions available.

If you don't have LED tail lights, you are in for a treat.

Replaced my stop/tail lights to LED & also removed the back up lights (don't plan on backing after dark) & put red LED stop/tail lights wired in their place, now they will light up the street.

I'm sure you'll like the LEDs also. But while you have them apart, check voltage at the light, using the light socket ground and hot. Factory lights are not normally so dim, you might have a voltage problem, which could either be ground or hot, in the trailer, the 7-pin, or the truck.

Did the command electronics switch to LED years ago and they are much brighter that the original also chalked the lens cover to avoid water leaks.

after you make sure the voltage is ok,
just changing to the equivalent led's will stun you
since I tow my jeep I did the swap and here's a compare of the backup lites:

One of the first upgrades I did on my TT was to replace ALL the clearance and marker lights with LED lights. And also replaced the brake/tail/turn lights with an LED light kit. Well worth the money and time.
