Can a roof ladder be added

Can a ladder be added to the rear of the trailer . Is there studs there for attachment. I will be using a cover on our trailer and a ladder would be handy.

Don't know what model you have, but in my opinion if it didn't come with a ladder they probably don't want you on the roof. Some rvs aren't designed for you to be walking on the roof. The use of a cover is whole 'nuther story.

I thought pretty much all modern trailers had walkable roofs now. How do you maintain the roof if you can't walk on it.

If you can't walk on th roof you have to use a ladder standing beside the unit which you have to be careful with it tipping or falling. Now if you need to get on the roof for a repair I would suggest you use a half sheet of plywood to displace you weight.

Great question, but unfortunately the answer is no.

There are several threads on this forum over the past few years and I actually called Crossroads when we bought our first Sunset Trail.

The other posters are correct. The roofs are not walkable. You can however get on all fours if you lay down a sheet of plywood, even so, you need to be careful

The dealer said it can be done but wouldn't be worth the cost.

Call Crossroads customer service with the VIN. They will tell you the same thing. If it's a Sunset Trail or Grand Reserve, you cannot add a ladder. You'd void your warranty and for good reason.

If the dealer will make a buck they'll tell you whatever you want to hear. The folks on this forum won't steer you wrong.

IMHO, attached ladders are a waste...
1) they are usually light duty and very hard to climb
2) they serve ONE purpose only
3) not worth adding on

get a collapsible ladder for less money, can be used for more than just the back of the rv, etc...

oh, and get one at least two feet taller than your rv...

I had the same thought because our Z1-291 didn't have a ladder on the rear. Then I found out it didn't have a ladder because you can't walk on the roof. I carry a folding ladder with us.
