crack and fix

We got a small crack on the side of the trailer during our recent trip to Alaska. It happened on a particularly bad frost heave on the Tok Cut-Off Highway between Valdez and Tok. The crack went from the bottom of the bedroom slide to the cut-out for the hot water tank.

We took the trailer to a local RV repair shop for a whole list of items to be dealt with, including the crack. The following pictures show the crack and what they did about it. Instead of fixing it and take the risk of it happening again, they created an expansion joint. I thought it was a pretty neat way to deal with it.

I tried uploading these several times and the second picture insists on showing up sideways, no matter what I do.

Mine did the same type of crack only on the left corner. Your dealer fix is pretty much what CR told me to do. CR sent me a pice of "H" molding and I installed it. So far, no more cracks. I think it is a pretty common area for a stress crack to show up.

My Redwood came from the factory with the stress relief in place. It was a common problem from 2012bto the 2015s
