Disc Brakes Finish

There are 4 basic finishes on your disc brake Hub/Rotor & Caliper.

Because RV's tend to sit idle for longer periods of time, and E-coat is minimum protection, Dacromet is preferred.

The standard automotive finish offers the least
protection (i.e. during a standard salt spray test,
rust will begin forming in less than 10 hours).

E-coating offers the best value of protection for
over the road use and for fresh water marine
(or limited salt water) applications (i.e. during
a standard salt water spray test, rust will begin
forming between 250 and 350 hours).

Dacromet coating offers the best value of
protection for salt water applications (i.e.
during a standard salt spray test, rust will
begin forming between 300 and 400 hours).

All stainless steel offers the ultimate corrosion
protection in salt water marine applications (zero
adverse effects due to salt water corrosion).

Thanks for the info.
Not aware that there were that variety of options.
Do most auto parts have all of these available?

No the parts are only available from Titan, Kodiak or Dexter.
The brake pads with Titan and Kodiak are off the shelf GM pads available anywhere. Dexter pad is only available thru Dexter.

Disk Brakes Rock!

I just converted to disk brakes, using the Titan Performance Trailer Brakes. Whoa Nellie, do they stop smoother and quicker. With my Cruiser drum brakes I felt like I just wasn't getting enough oomph, and was being pushed by the trailer. Now the trailer and truck feel like one unit, and each does its part. The test drive was great, and the first outing comes in a couple of weeks. I'll jump back in when we get back.

Jay,
Interested in your experience on your first long pull. Disc brakes really do give you a great deal of confidence.
