I normally take a couple of electric heaters with me to help keep things warm and save on propane. But they do take up counter and floor space. I decided to install an electric fireplace not only to get rid of the portable units but because I think they are cool in an RV.
More details of the install are on my blog.
The only place I could put one was in the bottom of my entertainment center.
I removed the door and the front wall. Reinstalled the door frame to make the opening the right width and used my jig saw to open the height 1/2". A couple of 2x2s where screwed to the floor to support the fireplace.
The fireplace came with a plug. My power panel is in the same cabinet and I had a spare 15A breaker so I hardwired it. The 1 1/2" gap on the left will be filled with black wire mesh to allow air flow for the fireplace and blower.

Great looking job and just in time for those cool autum nights. Did the same ting a couple of years ago, keeps the whole RV toasty warm.

Since yours is pretty much in the center of your unit, it will send some heat to the bedroom. My fireplace is in the LR entertainment slide. It doesn't do much good for the bedroom unless the rest of the unit is 85 degrees (or more). I still need the electric heater in the bedroom. Nice job!

Great job. A couple of questions. Does your unit have 30 or 50 amp service. Mine is 30 amp and I wonder is there a problem using the fireplace and other high draw items like toaster or electric kettle at the same time. Name of unit and source to purchase one. Thanks.

50 Amp. The fireplace will draw about 12 amps so that leaves you with 18 amps for other things.

A good idea is to connect the fireplace on the same breaker as the air conditionner as both of them wont be used at the same time

Looks great! I am looking at installing a fireplace in my unit, an 07 32BL, as well. Is your water heater located behind there? What fireplace model did you use? I know there was an option for a fireplace in my model from the factory but I am having a hard time finding out how! I have been in contact with crossroads but they don't seem to want to help. I have a 10 gallon water heater and that doesn't allow much depth for a fireplace to fit. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Todd

My WH is not located back there. I got the fireplace from Northern Tool. Been great to have to take the morning chill off while in FL.

what fireplace did you use? I have a 10 gal WH so there is only about6 inches in depth. I am having trouble finding a fire place that will fit. It is an option from the factory so I know there is one that will work so I called the local CR dealer who contacted the factory. I didn't get an answer.

Mine is in a hitch mount TT so the floor plan is differant but I bought a free standing unit from Menard's (HD also had it). Our son custom fit it to be next to the dinette and infront of a 2/3 tall closet.
Hope you wanted my info if not hope it helps,we love it.

I didn't realize yours was a TT. Mine has a slide out right in front of the entertainment center so it will need to fit in. Anybody know who at CR I could contact? Maybe going through them directlyinstead of the dealer first will warrant a better result.
Thanks

Forgot to mention that our slide IS right next to the formentioned closet, the fix was to strap the firelace to the end of the bed when the slide is in.

This looks like a plan I've been contemplating but hesitant about. Does the wall above the fireplace get hot? great looking job by the way.
