To prevent stains during cooking we placed flexy glass around the burners, it is easy to wipe and the wall paper can be seen through it.

Mmmmm, I'm thinking that is a good easy Mod! I've got a piece in my shop, now I know what to do with it!

We hate cooking on the stove, but sometimes have no other choice. The DW might like the idea, but I need to know how you attached it before I suggest it.

Get the flexy glass cut accordingly to the measurements you have on the walls around the burners.
Remove the electrical sockets from the wall (if you have one),make a hole in the flexy glass that would fit the socket area.
Place the flexy glass in place and use small screws in the corners (drill small holes in the flexy glass in advance)
Place the electrical socket back in place and on top of the flexy glass.
When I learn how to add a picture I will do so.

Hmmm, I also might have some of that stuff laying around. Although I can't remember who at the rally last year used a thin piece of copper....looked sharp!!!
