Has anyone reinforced their bumper?

As many of you I want a bike rack on the back of my TT. I have read probably most of the threads on bike racks but I don't recall anyone reinforcing the bumper.

I am not a welder and have never welded. MY friend thinks even though the square bumper is thin he can add welds and a bracket to reinforce it. After a few years on this site I know we have a little bit of everything here.

Has anyone tried welding up the bumper and adding some support brackets?
My concern is the bumper is so thin that no matter what you do, the metal will just rip and the pretty welds will stay. Any thoughts?

Frame warranty is gone if you modify the bumper or frame. Many have done it but most have reinforced the bumper first where it is attached directly to the frame. Whatever you do likely has to be started from the frame itself and reinforced all the way back to be safe. Don't suppose you have a ladder on the back of yours. Our bike rack mounts to it.

No ladder rack. I just found an adjustable receiver that looks pretty good.Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide Curt RV Hitch 13703

I just wish I could find one local in case it doesn't work I can return it.
