Homemade Stabilizers

Here is a little mod I did and thought I would share with all of you.

During our first trip with the Cruiser, we had noticed that there was a considerable amount of movement and something had to be done.
I was tired of doing the "Bobble head" every time someone was walking around or changing position on the sofa, recliner, bed, or in the shower, so we purchased the BAL X-chocks and Husky pin stabilizer which I thought would alleviate the motion but to no avail. It was somewhat better but still very noticeable. The front to back movement stopped and but the side to side movement at the rear was still very evident.

I know there are solutions out there for this very situation, but I just couldn't get my head around the price tag for some of these solutions. So here is a few pics of what I did. I saw something similar on Google but not the same. I wanted it to be solid, no holes to drill in the frame and also be easily removable.
The only items I had to purchase were: 2" camo ratchet strap $20, and 1/2" pins $8, I just happen to have the u-bolts lock nuts and washers in my garage but if I had to purchase them it would only be a few dollars.

As for the fabrication and material, I just went to the local scrap metal yard and picked up the material. I did have to weld the base and upper support lugs and drill a few holes for the u-bolts and lugs. A few passes with Tremclad and that's it.

Absolutely no movement whatsoever now. I just wanted to show everyone that there are other alternatives, with a little thought and elbow grease.

Very nice! I'm guessing you fabricated the legs as well although you have the crank down stabilizers. I have powered rear stabilizers that look similar to yours so maybe a strap between them will stiffen up the rear of my unit a little. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here is another option that won't break the bank either.
Amazon.com: Valterra 020106 RV Stabilizer: Automotive

Search "trailer rock & roll". I use the cargo bars from Harbor Freight, rock solid.

I use two between the front stabilizers and two in the back. Not as convenient as the commercial units but the price is right.

My setup is similar to this except that I run the cargo bars to the bottom foot of the stabilizer jack rather than the blocks and to the top of the jack at the frame.
