We are looking to invest in an icemaker. We have a 28RL. I like the portable I see at Home Depot for about $180. It just is not a freezer ,so you have to empty the cubes after several cycles. Seems fine to me. BUT....there is a space above the fridge in our unit. Husband wants me to find one that automatically fills up with water and will keep the cubes frozen once made? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tip....I looked at Dometic (even though the name scares me as much as the name "lippert" and chinese tires) and they seem to come only with the refridg. Saw another RV one, on sale for $799...eek. The one at camping world is the same as the one at Home Depot.......I guess I'm looking for anyone who has actually installed one in the space over the fridge? Or, does anyone have the portable one that you empty after it makes 4 or 5 rounds of cubes? Price wise, that seems the best, but need to get morefacts to talk to Hubby about

We've got an icemaker - AND we have pink ice cubes too.

Forgot to flush line going to icemaker - so much to learn being new to FW.

Pink ice cubes...That's a good one!

My dad has an counter top ice maker. He has to fill it with water but then I believe the ice stays frozen in the bin. He bought it at Cosco. Not sure how this would work above the fridge if you have to fill the water holding tank.

We have had a portable ice maker for 4 years. We make ice, put it in 1 Gallon freezer bags, and keep the bag in the freezer. Works great. An automatic ice maker in a 5er is not very practacal. No room, some campground water not the best and no holding capacity for frozen cube once 110v. is off.
