Anyone ever mount a kayak rack on the back of their unit? May just have to get a lightweight lader type rack for truck. Anyone take kayaks or small boat with them?

We carry an 11' zodiac in the back of the truck. The inflatable boat and the 9.9 hp motor allow us to get out an explore. Hope to add 2 person kayak to the roof if I can find the room up there. Have not really looked to much at the kayak option because we are still having lots of fun with the zodiac. The zodiac, motor and all the necessary gear fill the front falf of our truck box. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I have a hard time believing more people don't take boats with them. Have looked at several ladder racks for the truck. The cheap ones are "cheap" and rest are very expensive. Think I might try to build me one out of 2x4. Anybody done this?

As my log in says "we-canoe". One of thereasonsfor a TT canoe on top, bikes, 2x Honda 2000s, firewood, grill and what not under the topper. Have the remote locks wired so tail gate and glass door ALL lock at one push of the remote.

Don't think the back of the rig would be to good of a place to mount most anything.

I actually made one out of 2x4. It worked great. Cost me less than $25 bucks.

We have a 29 cruiser pulling with a 2009 Chey crew cab short bed we use yakima gutterless kayak system on the roof of the truck. We got them at rei. Oh ya we have a pull right fifth wheel in the bed. They work really well

Hello,
would love to see picture of how much room the zodiac takes up in truck bed. I have a 5th wheel and was wondering if there was room for zodiac and small motor. Thanks

Rhino Rack

I have a Rhino Rack on my Tundra that would allow me to carry two long kayaks and pull the trailer.

I haven't actually done it yet. I think I need more truck.

Yes, that looks good on the truck but the nose of the 5th wheel rv comes very close to the back of the cab when turning. Nothing can extend past the rear glass on the cab.

We carried two kayaks INSIDE our fiver for many years; one on the bed with a support rack in the floor of the bathroom and the other on a rack over the love seat and kitchen table. Had to slide out to remove them.
