I thought I would share how I replaced the tail light bulbs with LED's on my 08 Cruiser. With a kit I order form Command Electronics. Sorry if some of the pictures are not the best but the camera batteries were going bad .

The parts that came in the kit.

The old tail light and socket.

The new LED just before install.

Installed.

Finished.

The kit came with some blue clip connectors that I did not use.

I guess I forgot to post a link to the kit. So here it is.

I this what you ordered

<TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width=584><T>

<T>

<TR style="FONT-SIZE: 9pt">

<TD vAlign=top width=100>K-0026</TD>

<TD vAlign=top width=225>Upgrade Kit for two Surface Mount 81 style Tail Lights</TD></TR></T></T></TABLE>

I have been looking at doing the same thing. Also did you put any type of sealant around the lens, mine get moisture.

Yes that is the part number I ordered. No I have not put any sealant around the lens. I plan to, but have not yet done it.

If I'm looking at the pics right then all you have to is remove the old light. Then just connect the led back up to the same wires. Then the unit is fastened to the same back panel. Clip the lens cover back on and your done. I didn't miss a step, did I?

Yes that is right.

The only part I did not photograph was taking the two screws outon the lower part of the light that holds the new parts in.Edited by: rgbeach

Thanks, for confirming the install for me. I think I could even do it myself. Do you have the website where you got these at?

Thanks again

I like the fact that it's still factory looking.

Command Electronics is the same maker of the tail lights that the factory installed on my 06. By what I can tell, all the light fixtures in my 06 are Command Electronics. Note that they also sell a LED replacement for the compartment and interior lights. Still a little pricey for my blood though.

Again, GREAT find Robert!!

I know what you mean. I have looked at the inside fixture LEDupgrade also. Just can't force myself to spend the money. (But I did replace two of my lights with florescent fixtures.)

Do they do as the original bulbs did? Brighter for blinking and stopping lights?

The add just says TAIL.. the other part numbers state Turn/Brake/Tail. Yours just says TAIL.

It looks like from your picture that all the leds were lit. For tail.. How can it be brighter for Blinking or stop? Save voltage is applied for all three operations. Really two operations.

Ok great, Thanks for the reply.. I just left a note for myself to order a set of these.. Perfect.

I like them alot. The only reason i have not looked to much into it is if one fails.. I can't just hop out and replace the bulb like i did this year on a trip. Maybe i will get two sets. One for spairs.

Mine arrived today and had them installed in 15 minutes. They work great! Sealed the wire port with caulk as well as around the top and sides of the lenses. I'm good to go! Heading out for a weekend camp-out on the river in the morning.

the only downside is it cost me $10 and change for shipping from Mi to Ca

Still worth it Thanks
