I have a friend who swears by induction cooking (or his DW does). I bought the one Camping World carries. Amazing. It came with a frying pan and is fabulous. I know it starts cooking quickly and the temperature is adjustable. Frying eggs and too much heat, turn it down one notch and you can immediately (2-3 seconds) see the difference. We bought a couple of sauce pots and for grins I tried boiling water. About 1qt of water in a 1.5q pot, tap temperature. At the 3 minute mark it was bubbling and at 4 min a rolling boil. #4 setting is boil and it maintained a boil, turn it down to #3 (180deg) and the boiling stop. The downside is you can't use it on a metal surface. Scratch the top of the stove which is where I planned on using it. The other thing is the heat may go off instantly and if you are cooking you can see it stop BUT when removing the pan the top will still be hot from the heat transferred to it from the pan, not from leftover heat like an electric stove. The only other thing is any pan or pot has to be ferrous. It's not hard just take a small magnet to the store with you and if it sticks to the bottom it will work. We bought the 2 sauce pans at Wally World.

It works so well I'm pricing an induction cooktop for the house to replace the electric one we have.

I took your advice and bought an induction from Amazon for about 80 bucks. Well worth the investment. After a 3 week trip out west, I can say the induction burner was used frequently. Very convenient ! Only complaint is finding nonstick saucepans that are compatible and not expensive. Ended up with good ole fashion enamel steel pots.

Thanks for the post!
