It seems no matter how much storage you have, you always need more. The basement in my 5th wheel was getting full and I was looking for a way to create some extra storage. I've seen a few rear carriers added to rigs and since I already have a receiver hitch on the back it made sense to look into using one. I use it to store my "dirty" stuff, like sewer hose, wheel chocks, etc. Below is pics of my install. Pretty straight forward. That's interesting. I have the exact same model and my water fill is on the left rear side and the taillights are different. Taillights no big deal but the different water fill???
Was the hitch stock on yours?

clif, The receiver was added. Mine is an early build (10/10), later builds has the fill on the left.
dan, had one on my last rig but it wouldn't hold all my hose. I carry enough for 30 ft. reach, was in TX where I needed that so I had to buy extra and I just carry it now. Plus, the tube carrier is not large enough for the adaptors, clear adaptor/wash out and rubber glove storage. I can just pull that bin out and carry it next to the dump outlet and have everything handy.
I have considered doing the same, but am concerned aboutground clearance below the rear rack. I have already scraped my rear bumper and hitch a few times going in and out of gas stations and parking lots. Have you had any issues with itscraping? I wasthinking of getting a special hitch made that would go into my existing 1 1/4 inch reciever and would have a raised 2inch reciever about 6-8 inches higher.
Sorry Danshula, I was refering to the original posters rack mounted in the rear reciever not your storage tube. I should have been a little clearer on that.
Just put it on but doubt I'll have much problem. Not a lot of overhang on the rear. Did a lot of desert traveling last year with my old rig and never scraped, one spot I'd scrape the front of my truck but the trailer never hit going in or out. It appears you have a lot more rear overhang then I do. If all else fails I can get a riser.
If I'd have a problem, what you think this 40' would have?
