RV toilet installation

Does anyone know if RV toilets can be rotated w/o redoing the plumbing?

In our 2011 ST27BH, the toilet is facing the door/sink at an angle, and it's pretty awkward to use. In my mind, if I could just rotate the toilet so that it faces the side, I'd be OK and have enough knee space (i.e. I'd be facing the short bit of wall between the bathtub and the sink.)

Can I loosen a bolt or two, rotate the toilet, and then simply re-tighten? Or would I have to redo the plumbing and re-glue the closet flange on the floor? If I recall, it's a Thetford with a foot pedal in front, but I'd have to dig in my manuals for the exact model number.

Generally speaking it's not as easy as you might think. The flange has bolt holes that are on the left and right side and align with the holes for the toilet. It can be done if you have access to the flange under the floor by cutting out the 3 or 4" ABS plumbing and installing a new flange at the angle you desire. Not all floorplans have easy access to this plumbing however. The flange is not glued to the floor but screwed to it. I replaced a flange in another brand and it took about 2 hours to do but there was good access to the plumbing.

Thanks Stan, it's pretty much what I was suspecting... I'd have to remove the underbelly shield and insulation to gain access to the plumbing, and redo it so as to re-orient the flange.

Since I think I have a small leak underneath (i.e. there's a slow drip from a low-point in underbelly skin (looks like corrugated fiberboard)) I may have to remove it anyhow to troubleshoot that leak. If so, I'll get a chance to look at the plumbing from underneath, and decide whether I'll tackle the project or not... I'm pretty handy and have a good set of various tools, but I don't want to have to rebuild the thing!!! On the other hand, mods are fun to do!
