Tire Pressure Monitoring systems

Hey guys, thinking of adding a tire pressure monitoring system for the 5th wheel. I have zero experience in this. Anyone have any good/bad experiences out there? Any help is appreciated.

I have the Hawks Head. It seemed work good for awhile and then became something that wasn't reliable at all.
I have considered getting something else, but so far haven't.

Here is a link to another thread on the subject.

TST system has temps & pressures, have it it on all 10 tires & works great. Also batteries can be replaced by you, don't have to send them back for new batteries.

Curious.
Did you replace the factory ones on the Denali with TST?

I have the Tire Minder and it has prevented one blowout. I recommend getting the booster to increase the range of the monitors.

In 06 i got the pressure pro system and was very happy with this product. Last year as the batteries were going dead I went to the TST system as the cost was close to buying new sending unites vrs changing the battery. So far the TST system works well and happy. I would recommend both systems but some type of TPMS is better than nothing.

TST offers 2 types of monitor caps, a flowthru & non flowthru. With the flowthru you can adjust air pressure without removing the sensor, but they will not work on the rear duals as they are too tall. My system is almost 3 years old & I've only replaced 5 of the 10 batteries so far.

They also make internal sensors which are flow thru, so they should work with duallies.

Have you ever experienced loss of signal from any of the wheels?
Do you have the booster?

I have the TST units, not flow through, no booster and no signal problems. I have had them for five years.

I don't have a booster. The only signal loss I've experienced is from the spare. I blame that on the 29' of trailer between the monitor and the tire. I also just lay the monitor down in the tray in the front of the console. The batteries are all 2 years old in the sensors.

You're talking about the trailer spare?
Must be mounted on the rear bumper?

Yes, the trailer spare, which is on the rear bumper.

Just installed the Tire Minder TMG400c-4. Bought it from AdventureRV.net. They sent me the booster as a free gift. Very easy to program and install. Haven't used it yet on the road but I have monitered the temperature change at night. Pressure changes a little when the temperature drops and rises also.

The big issue I have with the TST is the 1 hr time before it will notify you of a loss of signal.

The Pressure Pro is about 15 minutes. Also the Pressure Pro has a feature that lets you measure the signal strength from each tire. That way you know if there is a problem and also if an external antenna or signal booster has cured the weak signal problem.
