Studs are normally 16" OC, but some may be closer. Also, very likely there is an aluminum header full width of the slide out. A stud finder will work with aluminum studs because it detects differences in wall density. But may also make detecting the large header very difficult. If you have time, under the right conditions, external condensation in the early morning is a great way to 'see' the framing. Stainless steel sheet metal screws will work fine on the aluminum framing.
