I had a lot of side to side movement when set up in my TT. I purchased a pair of ratcheting cargo bars from Harbor Freight and installed them in an "X" configuration between the two rear scissor jacks and no more jiggle. I'm going to add another set between the front jacks for good measure. I had BAL stabilizing bars for the front to back motion on all four corners but they didn't help much.
Sounds like its worth a try....way less expensive, simple install....do you have x-chocks for the wheels?, thought that was to stop front to back motion...thanks for the info...keep us posted...
These aren't straps they are ratchet bars. The pads on the ends of the bars have a swivel connection so they provide a good fit against the top and bottom of the jacks.
Wow, what an alternative to spending hundreds for the permanently installed stabilizers. On page 54 (10-MinuteTech) of November's Trailer Life is a visual of how these would work on the front end adding angle braces to the frame and also for front-to-back stability. I'm going to try these. Worst case is if they don't work great on my ST I can use them in the bed of the truck for their original intended purpose. Thanks for the tip, Russ!
That is a pretty good fix. A lot cheaper then the stabilizers .
There was somebody posted awhile back, he had made a set out of 2 different sizes of square tubing. They telescoped and he had a set bolt welded on to lock them.
I was going to make a set with the square tubing, but thestyle of thefoot pads on my jacks I woulld have a clearance problem. Also the jacks weren't quite lined up from side to sideagain creating a clearance problem. These bars seemed like a simpleand inexpensive solution.
Great inexpensive way to cure the wiggles!!! I'll add that to my list. I have a question for those that have already installed the manufactured stabilizer bars. (JT's, PlugItRight......). Is it possible to only order and install those for just theside to side movement?With wheel chocks andthe Deluxe Chocklock I don't getfront to back movement. I would like to try just adding the stabilizers to the front and back just for the side to side movement. What do you think?
when I ordered mine, I have the eliminators, it all came in one set, for both front and rear, I have power rear jacks so they wouldn't work on the rear, so I just left them in the box...I think they all come as complete sets for front and rear.
