TV Mount

I want to mounta tv in my outdoor kitchen of my new Sunset Trail. I have the little sticker that says mount tv here. The problem is there doesn't seem to be too much for the mount to grab on too. Can anyone tell me if it is a wood or aluminum stud that is back there and how wide and deep it is.

I cannot attest to the outdoor mount, but I just put one in the bedroom...where they have the decal "mount tv here" and I pounded the wall and it appears as though there may be a 1x 2x6 back there. I did not use the lagbolts that came with the package as they were 2 inches...but I bought 1 inch lag bolts of the same diameter and it went up with no problem and seems very sturdy...time will tell. Pound around the area and it shoudl be solid for quite a distance if they do them the same way. Good luck Brian.

Thanks Jim. I tapped on the wall around the sticker and although the wall is solid right under the sticker and in a vertical line up and down from the sticker (like a stud) it sure seems to be very flimsy when you get a couple of inchesoff to the sides. I don't want any extra holes so I have emailed Crossroads to see what they say and will post the reply.

I take it to mean they are 1 and 1/2 inch "thick" but no idea of the square area it covers? that would be nice to know for sure...but 1 and 1/2" wow, I could have used a larger lag bolt LOL But, it is nice to know I can change upgrade if I want to...although it seems to be holding well at this time. I mounted a 22" tv in my outdoor kitchen. This is only about 7-8 lbs. I used a swing arm mount that basically needs only 2 screws, one top, one bottom. Be sure to pre-drill the holes (I drilled 1 size smaller than the screw) so you don't split the interior wood. Also don't go to deep!

Think about it, the loads are extremely low for this, so all the hardware is overkill. Make sure that you can secure the tv from banging around while you are going down the road. I rigged a bungee to hold the tv in place.

Finally got it done. Used a flat to the wall, no movement mount. 22" RCA LED tv. Predrilled the 2 holes and used 1 1/2" X 1/4 " lag bolts. It seems to be very solid.I marked the drill bit to make sure I didn't go right through the wall and figured 1 1/2 lag bolts would be okay as the mount was about 1/8 of an inch thick.

Brian - did you have any trouble with power cord? We have ours mounted inside with a 1" flat bracket...I had to tweak TV so I could plug in power cord.

Can you elaborate on your power cord problem. I didn't have any problems with anything. If I can't help you I'm sure someone else on this site can.

I put my TV up using the Wal-Mart hanger, with 2 inch lag bolts. I left the TV on the unit for my trip to Indiana from WI. Roads were all good until I got to I-65 in Indiana. There are potholes...or moreover chunks of concrete missing at almost all of the bridge flanges on both sides...some of them jarred my teeth....we thought for sure we would find things on the floor...but everything was fine, including the TV. I was impressed...but I will be taking a different route when I return home...it will take me half an hour longer but I want to arrive in one piece LOL
