I have a 05 Ram 1500 & a Zinger 30BH, the Zinger tows fine with the Dodge & brakes fine. My questions & please only positive feedback I know my towing criteria. The Dodge squats in the rear more then I like, I am considering helper springs or Timbrens? not sure which would be better, just looking for less squat & bounce, I know the Timbrens will help when the vehicle is loaded & already squated but won't a helper spring help all the time & yes be a stiffer ride but be better for the truck?

there are different kind of helper springs, and i've never had a truck with them. i have had good luck with air bags. i had them on my previous 1500 chevy and i have them on my current truck.(ford f350). you can get just the bags with a manual external fill.(tire valve) for around $225 or you can add a onboard air commpresser for about another $200. i have the on board air and i love it you fill and deflate the bags from inside the cab. i also mounted the commpresser behind my rear seat to keep it from the weather.

also whats nice about air bags is that when they are not inflated the ride of your truck does'nt change from stock. Edited by: spinella

I have added extra springs to my F350, which has caused me a few problems other than the firmer ride. It has added height to the truck which is no giving me a clearance issue between the box and fifth. Just something to think about.....

My vote is for the timbrens. Installed them on my 02F350. Did a great job of handling the extra pin weight of the the fiver, my 8 ton gooseneck dump and my 9 ton gooseneck shop trailer. Does not affect stock ride, but greatly enhances stability and levelness when hitched up.

I am with delqcc, I have had Timbrens on the truck in my sig for over two years now. My truck is level with the trailer hooked up and the ride is improved while towing. They have no effect when not towing. Mine were a 15 minute install.

We didn't use Timbrens but used the airlift air cell suspension kit because the 4X4 shop by us had a smoking special on them when they came out.However they are the same principle and we love them .We have a stock ride and the aircell does not engage until the truck squats at least an inch same as timbrens.If you like the ride of your truck and just want a little more stability and less drop We strongly recommend this route

I am with Hunter 11, I had a set of timbrens on a 1995 3/4 t. and they make the truck ride good empty and when in corning they don't let the truck lean like air bags. Just my 2 cents.

Another vote for air bags and a truck won't lean with air bags. I also have the onboard compressor, best system I could find. I tried timbrins and didnot like on rough roads.

Timbrens or Airbags that is the questions - anyone know anything about Super Springs? I like the idea of airbags, but I questions paying over $400.00 for compressor & kit, If I went w/o compressor then I questions if I would always take the time to air it up before a trip. Knowing this I would lean more torwards Timbrens, but then I heard about Super Springs - can't beat the price I got them for free, so I think I will try these first & then if not add Timbrens & see what happens - any other input greatly appreciated.

I have Firestone Ride-Rite airbags with onboard compressor. I like the ease of adjustment with this system empty or loaded.

I had SuperSprings on a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac a couple of years ago to help pull my TT. They made the ride nice when I was loaded, but a log wagon when I was empty.

I switched to Timbrens and have put them on every vehicle since. They are the best things since sliced bread for the price. Air bags would be great too, but I am concerned with the maintenance and freezing issues.

I've got a Kelderman Air-Ride system on my truck. I had the 4-link rear setup on my 98 Dodge and am using the 2-bag rear setup on my 03 Dodge. I like the 2-bag better for towing and handling. It's got mechanical auto-level (ride height, not pressure) and it adjust faster than the front legs on our 5th so the truck never squats. Ride quality is fantastic. I've also got the Kelderman front but that was just for leveling out the truck and added weight of the Road Armor bumper.

It seems as the Dodges have weaker springs ? Or maybe softer ? My dad put some hepler springs on his 2008 Dodge 1500 and he hatted them. Always made noise ( even after adj ) and like others have said he didn't like the ride empty.

Does this have any thing to do with the height of the truck ? Seems like the Dodge trucks sit so high. Just wondering if this might cause them to sag a little with weight.

I think they have weaker springs .. I got rid of the springs on my last Ram for a 4-link, this Ram I added 600lbs add-a-leafs but the air bags cushion the ride when empty.

Dads is not that bad, He said it just needed a little bit. He took them off and as I know it they are in his barn if any one is interested.
