Wet Bolt Kit/Seals

I finally got the wet bolt kit installed this weekend. Not too bad, but I have parts hurting that I didn't know I had! While I had it jacked up, I wanted to check brakes and repack bearings. We only have about 7500 miles on the trailer and I had not repacked yet. Lo and behold, three of the four grease seals were leaking, not bad enough to impact the braking (yet), but it wouldn't have been much longer before it did. No grease ever added by me, but too much grease in my opinion "as is" from the factory. I would recommend that if you haven't checked the bearings/seals in a while, you should.

Good point. We all need a reminder once in awhile.
Thanks Paul.

I think that When the inside temperature of the hub changes the inside pressure rises and pushes the grease past the seals. I cured the problem by piercing with an exacto the rubber cap right in the middle , just a slit to let the pressure exhaust , whenn no pressure the lips close and no dust gets in. Be carefull to keep the inside of the cap very clean to keep the lips from sealing. with grease. It worked for me.
