Where to store tiki torches?

I am looking for a solution on where to store tiki torches. I have 1 belly storage, and thats up front under the bed. I try to burn the torches empty, but there is still a residue and odor in the torches, so I don't want that under the bed.

I am 95% sure that after this next trip, I will be removing the fridge from the outside kitchen, so I would have space there and it should let me store them right side up. I'd really like to have them live permanently in/on the camper and not be part of the list that gets loaded each time so ideally they need to be secured.

Anyone have novel ideas on where they put torches? I found the 2 torches throw just enough light, them and the campfire mean we don't need a lantern (or the camper's exterior lights) running.

We used to carry three Tiki Torches. Liked them, but as you found, the cans are problematic. For a while, I kept the cans in the back of the pickup, in a McDonald's cardboard drink holder. Until it rained, and the holder disintegrated. One other help - bring a spike with a hammer, to bore holes into the ground when it's too hard to push the bamboo in directly.

Marty, I solved part of that already. Purchased a 3ft run of metal tubing, cut it in half at a sharp angle. Now I have 2 heavy duty hollow spikes I can drive into the ground and then remove. I started with bamboo torches, but found the metal ones at Lowes. So the bamboo went back, the metal ones are much more durable.

I could just take the cans off like you were doing, and store in the outside kitchen tho.

I stored them at home in the garage

take the metal canister out of the bamboo and put them in with the propane tanks,along with fuel...they are both combustible and need venting.
store bamboo in your outside basement storage area.

Find a piece of pvc pipe. Glue cap one end and store the containers thru the other. Use either a slip cap or a screw cap.

I don't know the diameter of Tiki torches, but someone showed me a neat trick/hack at the dump station that might work if they are small enough. The caps on the back bumper of the trailer come off on either side. The guy kept his sewer hose there.

That's why all the bumpers are hollow.

After losing a bumper cap, and almost my sewer hose, I made large "safety pins" out of coat hanger wire, and place them through self-drilled holes in the top and bottom of both caps and bumper.

I use citronella lamps that sit on the ground. Keep them in a storage bin with the oil in the outdoor kitchen compartment.
In Louisiana, you have to have a comprehensive mosquito strategy. I don't want to be exposed to the flying devils coming in low under the elevation of the torch-flame up high. Flaming pots on the ground prevent this. Up high, I keep a Thermocell hanging from the awning rafter to detour the highflyers. When there is a serious blitzkeig on, I have a can of flying insect fogger for napalm-like effectiveness. A final defense is to keep the Off spray handy for the surving kamikaze flyers able to defeat these three levels of defense. Keeping a fan blowing also helps protect he interior by steering the final strikers off course.

One of the many things I DON"T miss about living in the south and one of the things I love about living in CO. Not many mosquitoes here. Some areas have them or horseflies. We tried the ground lamps but with a dog and two little kids, didn't want to risk it. Torches seem to work just fine.
