White Noise Machines
Do any of you have one of these? What do you think about it? What brand do you recommend as I have seen a variety on the web with prices to match. Does yours play just a fan noise or other sounds like water, etc.?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jean

We actually use a fan for white fan noise
in the summer it's pointed on me, in the winter it's pointed down the hall
(if we are not using the ceramic heater that has a built in fan )

This is what I use. http://simplynoise.com/
It's for a computer and it's free. Too cheap to buy one.

We use a white noise machine. It has several sound types, water, waves, wind, etc. Don't remember the brand, but think we bought it at Walmart.

Thanks, Dale. I will check them out.
Clif/Millie, sorry I do not drink beer so that would not work. But a margarita might help.

We also use a fan, but you could use an IPhone if you have one I know there is a free app for white noise.

Travel well,
Jim

Question,
If you use SimplyNoise with you iPhone or iPad how do you keep text messages, emails and phone call alerts from coming through while you sleep?
Thanks,

Thank you for all of the suggestions. - With most of the CGs that we used on our last trip we did not have cell phone service so that would not work.
- As for the beer, never drank it but margarita could do the same.
- Jim, I will be giving Linda a call tomorrow.

I had one of those noise machines when I worked shift work. Never realized they called it white noise. My understanding of white noise is that the human ear cannot detect it. Great to keep someone recording your conversations.

It is nice to know I am not the only one who needs a fan to sleep. Must show wifey!!
I argued with AEP about a power outage once because when my fan shut off, I woke up!

My husband needs a fan to sleep as well. He's always banging the fan to stop it from squeaking and it can feel drafty sometimes with it on. I decided to try the Marpac Dohm sleep conditioner. It's pricey but it's small/compact and creates a very consistent sound. We live near train tracks and the trains were always waking up my son. With this machine he's able to sleep with less interruptions. We also recently took it to a hotel with us. Since it's so compact it fit well in our suitcase. We won't leave home without it again. I plan to buy more so we can each have one and will probably add one to our new trailer. Not sure it if can be run off 12v battery power yet though.

My husband likes to watch TV after I have gone to bed. I use my iPod as a white noise machine. I have an app called "Sleep Machine" and I connect the iPod to a small speaker I put beside the bed. You can set the timer for as long as you want and you can set it to fade out instead of end abruptly. It works great. I go to sleep with it on most nights.

I have this chain saw, sans muffler, that I sleep with. Would a white noise machine help?

I would think no, it would not help. The snoring would be too close (assuming you share a bed). If the snoring was in the next room, then I believe it would. Since this is an RV forum, there are not a lot of trailers that offer sleeping in different rooms.
