Anti freeze through siphon vs fresh water tank

Second year with my 08 Seville, I was told recently by a friend and long-time RV'er that having the water tank in the rear of the RV - the line to the pump is not purged with anti-freeze.

I should be putting anti-freeze into the tank and to ensure all the lines are purged.

Any thoughts, recommendations (not sure why the siphon would be mounted mid-RV if it didn't purge the 20+ feet of water line from the fresh water tank)?

I would not put anti-freeze in my fresh water tank JMHO, with both the drain and the siphon hose not being located totaly at the bottom of the tank it would be almost impossible to get it all out. The siphon hose should gravity drain into the tank and the tank just gets drained. If you are concerned, drain the tank first and then run the pump for a little while, that should clear out your siphon hose. Then winterize like you have been.

Good advice from Jason. Hint....Before unhitching for the last time before winterizing, open fresh water drain while rig is still up in the air a bit. That will help get the majority of the water out of the tank.

X2 No Anti-Freeze in fresh water holding tank. Follow CW3Jason's advice. Any water in bottom will have plenty of room if it freezes

Okay thanks, I'm not worried about the tank, its the line to the pump. I didn't know if that line would drain back to the tank when the "winterizing" valves are cycled.

If nobody is purging that line and its not rupturing ~ that's good enough for me.

You might be able to close the siphon hose valve 1/2 way as to allow you to manually blow thru the hose thus pushing any water back to the tank,??
