I know CR says we shouldn't cover the fifth wheels, but I hate the thought of having ice and snow freezing and thawing on the roof all winter. I was wondering if it would be OK to use a RV cover on it for maybe three months at the most, just through the ice and snow season? Or just use a AC cover and forget it?

Use the AC cover. My service guy said that the covers will move back and forth on the roof and wear out the corners in a season. He said Crossroads is a little different from other manufactures to the good side but do not take a chance. A new roof will cost about 6,000 dollars

I agree with CR. Covering may do more harm than good. There is the problem with rubbing from the cover. The cover can trap moisture with the result of higher humidity than if it was not covered. I remember when I worked for GE we instructed customers not to cover boxes of partsand or equipment when stored outdoors.
