Does the water heater fully drain

I'm winterizing. I have tilted tipped and leaned the camper all i can but I still hear bubble of water in the water heater. Is the drain on the bottom edge or a bit higher?

It's probably NOT completely drained but the little amount of water will not affect anything if it freezes. Freeze issues really only applies to confined spaces when expansion can damage parts - like water lines and outside faucets/shower hose.

You probably have way more water left in the fresh water tank that you will not be able to get out.
Stan is right on with what he posted.

Like others said , you will be ok as long as it has been drained but if you are leary ,you can stick a short length of small hose into the drain and siphon out the gallon that is left in there. No need to but it would not hurt...

Leave the water heater drain caps off also. Didn't see that mentioned here.

Don't you pull the heating element ?

that's what I've always done and left it out for the winter... then put a new one in in the spring...

In all my years of owning an rv I never pulled the heating element or did I ever have to replace one.

No. I used to pull the anode rod and leave it out but this heater doesn't have one.

Anode rods last a long time , they still are ok even when they are 1/2eroded. I have never replaced one.

I just went through my water heater manual and it said (paraphrasing) up to two quarts of water could remain in the water heater after it has been drained. It does not threaten nor will damage the water heater if frozen. The plug is on the lowest outermost side but I guess the design of the water heater is such that perhaps not all the water will come out but that it does not present a problem. Weird? I normally reinsert the plug so bugs stay out but leave it very loose.
