Rodent control

We are parking our TT in a friends drive shed with dirt ground so there is bound to be mice, but its better there then in a laneway getting pounded with snow!

Any tips on what we can to do avoid mice making a winter home in our trailer?

First winter storing it.

I have heard dryer sheets around the inside work. I haven't tried it but many swear by them.

There are lots of ways to keep miceout ofyour tt but the only one guaranteed to work is to seal any holes that the little buggers can enter the unit through. We use Irish Spring soap bars but we have (tried to) closed anyopenings and cram steel wool in the slideout gaps.I also have a trap in the TT, not just to catch a mouse but if I do I know they have found a way to get in. Dryer sheets are supposed to work and the farmers around my neck of the woodsswear byground coffee in their farm equipment.

Dryer sheets, peppermint oil extract, coffee grounds, D-CON, glue-traps, electronic deterents...

There are lots of methods but the best is above, seal any holes or area's that are suspected as easy entry. I would setup glue-traps and D-CON around the outer area of theshed so long as no pets are in there.

I can attest that dryer sheets DO NOT work. Had always used them with no mice, but last year I was invaded by the nasty critters.

I've worked to close up any little cracks I can find and will be leaving both mouse traps and poison as cheap backup insurance.

My neighbor used peppermint oil after failure with the dryer sheets. Said they didn't come back. They used to use mothballs but the odor is not good.

In addition to bounce sheets we spread whole cloves around and seal any holes with steel wool.

quick question... I know how everyone feels about using moth balls in the trailer and I agree.... just wonder what people think about using them in the pass thru storage. I only ask because we are planning on stashing all of our lawn furniture cushions in there and don't want to open it up to a surprise next spring....

I've been RVing for many many years. Tried most of those things mentioned. The one that has worked the best and smells good is "Fresh Cab". Google it, buy a package of packets. Put two or three inside; they smell like pot-pouri. Next year, put in fresh ones and put the old ones in your storage compartments. Don't let the price scare you, they are worth it.

Yes, I agree with NH Horseman. We've stored our RV for the past 6 years in a huge metal barn in a Kansas field with other RVs and some farm implements. We have used "Fresh Cab" during those years with no rodent problem. Not even droppings, which tell me they truly are repeled by the smell. And it does smell very nice.

I order the product online. It does appear to be expensive but works out to around $4 a sachet. Well worth it, if it prevents some costly wiring repair and/or issues while on the road.
