Winterizing question

I followed all the directions in the Crossroads book and from information on the forum, and put the two valves by the hot water heater in the vertical position to bypass it when putting in the pink stuff. When I was done, I discovered there was pink stuff in the hose above the valves going into the hot water heater. Is this right?

Should I have put the valve in the horizontal position instead? Will this be a problem when I summerize my trailer?

I don't remember which way the valves go for sure so I won't add to your confusion. I just put the pink stuff in my 30BH last weekend. Took a little more than one gallon. If you did not have the valves in the right position, you would have filled the HW tank and used as many gallons as the tank is plus the extra gallon or so to fill the rest of the lines. In my case I would have used more than 11 gallons if it went into the HW tank.

Seems to me there is a checkvalve at the tank on the top hose. You may have filled the hose up to the checkvalve which would be normal.

Sorry, can't help, I use air and only use antifreeze in the drains and waste tanks.

Yeah, it's normal for a bit of the anti-freeze to migrate in the upper tube to the HW tank but it doesn't get into the tank. It happens to me every time I winterize the water system on our 5vr. It gets readily flushed out whenyouopenup things for the camping season. What you don't want, is to get the anti-freeze in the bottom tube going into the HW tank.

I think you did it right.
Before I winterized my Cruiser the first time I drew a sketch of the vales and taped it to the inside panel, now it is difficult to go wrong...all you have to do is change the valves position,winterize and then bring the valves back to the same position they were .
I also do a sketch of the two batteries connections before I put them away for the winter.

Simply leave the low point drain for the tank OPEN and take a ride!
