50Amp to 30Amp

Ok so I have a question. Been out of loop for a few years. Picking up our 2016 CAF25SE 5er on the 9th. I know it is a 50 Amp and it also comes with a 30 Amp adapter. I only have one air unit so I really don't need to run through 50Amp. If I purchase a surge protector should I get the 50? If I use the 50 Amp plugged into the 30 Amp adapter will it affect the voltage and tell it to shut down or should I just get a 30 Amp protector and use on the end of the 30 Amp adapter?

If it was me, I would get a 50 amp Progressive, either hard wired or portable. That way you got it some where down the road when you are going to either want it or need it.
You can still plug your 30 amp adapter into it when and if you want.
Don't chintz. You just spent how many thousands of dollars for the RV??

True. That's what I was thinking. Senior moment. I started thinking after I posted. But waited to long and couldn't undo it. Thanks

If your camper is 50 amp the 30 amp adapter is there in case the campground can not provide you with 50 amp service...30 amp is better than no amp...

PS...Go progressive...

Yea thanks Sleepy-T I understand about the dog bone adapter I just wasn't sure about using a 50 amp surge guard and hooking up to 30 amp if it would cause it to shut off. Thanks for the reply.

Decided to go with: Progressive Industries PT50C 50 Amp Portable Electrical Management System. Checked Amazon and eBay and eBay was best price at $333.33 free shipping.
