Has anyone installed a back up camera on their trailer? I purchased one last year, when I started to install it I foundthe reverse lamp wiring stops at the junction box inside the pin box (from the truck plug to the umbilical cord – stopping with a wire cap). I didn’t see any other wires that were ran to the rear of the trailer from factory, other than turn brake and park lamp. The underbelly is sealed and I reallydon’twanttorun a solo wire down the frame rail, those installs always lookhokie. I think the only driver control I will have inside the truck is going to be by using the park lamp circuit.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />

When backing or rear view is needed, I will have to turn on the park lamps on to power up the camera. Let me know your thoughts or if I’m missing something here.

Thanks,

Brian

IIWM, I'd have it powered FULL time(ign on), so that it would be usable going down the road. Others have stated that it's very useful when making lane changes, etc. Someone had a thread on the old forum on their installation...was very well done.

After being disappointed with how most

rear view cameras are installed in most 5th wheels, we

decided to install it ourselves. We chose a wired system for

improved reliability and routed the wires internally as much as

possible. The camera used was the Backup Camera 7"TFT LCD

RearView Camera System from Mymobilevision.com for $258. Here is the

<!-- @page margin: 0.79in P margin-bottom: 0.08in --I have a sequence of photos showing the details, beginning at the rear of the 5th

wheel, and following the wiring to the connector in the front

compartment, to the truck connector, and finally to the monitor in

the truck. Unfortunately, I cannot find out how to upload these photos.
