I just purchased a CF27RL fifth wheel from an individual and took it out on our maiden voyage this weekend. After attempting to run the fridge in auto gas mode without success, I realized finally that it required DC power from the battery to operate once unplugged from AC. When I checked the battery, I foundit nearly bone dry and completely dead. I refilled it with distilled water and recharged, and it seems to be charging/holding a charge.

My question: does the battery charger in the camper chargecontinuously or trickle charge once fully recharged while driving or plugged into AC? (I can find no info in the mostly worthless owner's manual, so I don't know how everything is supposed to work here.)

Check your user manual for the converter. (if the previous owner left it for you) You probably have a WFCO converter which has an automatic 3 stage charger that will charge the battery while you are plugged into AC. While driving, the alternator in the tow vehicle will charge the battery if wired correctly, it is however a slow charge (low amps) due to the length and size of the wire all the way to the batteries in the trailer.

Get the WFCO converter number off the panel and google it, you should be able to download info and/or owner's manual for it.
