Hi all, made it out to the trailer today and much to my suprise the front panel that runs from the hitch pin down to the front cargo hatch has a huge gapeing crack in it. it runs from the front edge right to the bottom and there are other cracks around the screw holes. The trailer is less than a year old.
Just want to know if anyone has had a similar problem
Thats interesting...Never heard of that before and not really sure how it could happen without some sort of impact. Does the unit reside on your property or a storage lot?
If it shows no impact take plenty of pictures and call Randy @ Crossroads.
X2, ASAP and before you tow again. You may have a broken frame. Do a search on RVnet. I am sure I have read about a similar problem on that site.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />
That has to be from impact or serious damage. Ours was replaced at the factory, the material had a defect in it (just a visual issue). I watched as they replaced the material, it was very pliable and takes quite a bit to cut through. This isn't fiberglass but rather some type of flexible plastic material.
Was this at a storage lot?

The trailer is located on our private lot and I am positive that there was no impact. The only time since I bought the trailer that it was towed is when the dealer delivered the trailer to my lot about 100 miles. I have contacted our selling dealer and he is very helpful and has been in contact with Crossroads and has assured me that everything will be looked after (very good service and response from the dealer). I will be on site during the repair process is there anything structural that I should watch out for?
Thanks again for the replies everyone. This forum is the best resource ever.
When was the last time you looked at the trailer? Is it possible that this happened during the winter months. Extreme cold may have caused it to shrink and crack, but the damage was not apparent until warmer weather when the panel expanded. I don't know how long Crossroads has used this type of plastic panel instead of fiberglas.

Scot, first off I am glad it was not caused from "impact or serious damage"... Second if you are going to be on site when the repair is made check all the welds in the front overhang area and look for any cracks in the metal. I know of another forum member that is having somemajor issues in that area right now with poor welds and broken metal. Another thing to loook at is to make sure all the insulation is in place that is in there. We had to have the same panel removed when we first got our trailer and several pieces of insulation fell out when the panel was taken down. I glued it all back in place before the tech put the panel back on. Good luck and keep us informed.

Thanks again guys, the trailer was exposed to our typical northern Ontario winter and we did have some heavy weather. I will check welds, insulation while they have it opened up. I have been given the go ahead to seal the cracks up.
I can't say enough about the great service from Eastview RV in Kapuskasing Ontario. They are stand up guys before during and as proven now after the sale. A real class act.
