What model Cruiser are you asking about? On mine there is some storage under the bed but because of the slide mechanism it is limited.

Our cruiser has storage under the bed, the slide mechanism does take up some of it and you will loose more of it once you reinforce the bed so it is level with two normal adults on it. I don't know how they get by with the garbage they put out for bed framing.

"Typically" yes. Most TT and 5th Wheels have some sort of storage under a lift up bed.

Under bed storaage

This spring I beefed up the "under the bed storage compartment". There are two deep areas at each side and the slide-out motor and gear works are in the center under a thin sheet of plywood.
I installed a few cross members to support the slide-out motor plywood cover. I also screwed and glued in place corner strips of wood. These are necessary due to the fact that DW stuffs these compartment with bedding, shoes and gifts that she purchases on our travels. This causes the bottom of the compartment to pull away exposing the assembly staples and creating a gap. Then I beefed up the wood bracket that supports the motor. It is better than when it came from the factory.
That distant plywood with the 4 inch holes is from a previous bed repair when the bed pulled away from the wall. Someone at the factory wasn't putting the screws into the studs!! After this modification the weight of the hinged end of the bed is supported all of the way to the floor and it is very well attached to the stud-work. Another job well done and better than the factory.
Sorry about the side-ways photos. I tried to modify them but that was worse.
