Does anyone live full time in their cruiser aire?

Hi- I just found this site and look forward to reading and learning. I am planning to purchase a fifth wheel in two years, and sell my house to live full time and travel. I am overwhelmed at the moment with all the choices out there, and of course, I have a budget.
I love the floor plan of the smallest fifth wheel, I think it's around 29 feet, which is perfect for me and my dog and parrot.
someone mentioned to me that the warranty doesn't cover if I live in it full time. that's a deal breaker for me.
Of course I need something that's not going to fall apart on me five or ten years down the road, and of course whatever I buy will need maintenence, but what scares me is that I hear about the very bad service at Camping World, how does it work if I want to go elsewhere for service?

I'd love to hear about any thoughts on this, and of course will read through threads to learn all I can
thanks
Barbara

A lot of dealers will not perform warranty work on units they did not sell. Keep that in mind when you buy. You may want to choose a dealer based on service.

As for the warranty not covering if you live in it full time, I don't know the rules. You could contact the manufacturer directly and get it straight from the horse's mouth.

Thanks Lone, I guess I'm trying to make sense out of that, even though I'm sure your right. If I'm in California with a major problem, how would I possibly be able to drive it 3K miles back to the dealer? Wouldn't want to.
Great thing to investigate before I buy,
Barbara

We have needed repairs while on a long trip. We paid the shot, then sent the bill to Crossroads as the items in question were under warranty. Crossroads sent us the money. So I would not worry about having issues while on the road that are warranty related.

Most dealers will fix what needs to be fixed if you pay for it. They just will not submit claims under warranty to the manufacturer if you did not buy the trailer from them.

Sorry for the confusion.

Almost All RVs. The dealer will tell you what you want to hear but the truth in my opinion is buyer beware. I bought a new 5th wheel. Had a lot of problems and was told bring it to us and we will fix it.
I would have had to pay a transport company to haul it from calif to Indiana then back
And while its gone I would have to live in hotel since we are full time ( don't believe what they say even if its in writing ).

I have a Good Sam warranty. My local rv dealer, a non Crossroads and non Camping World dealer said they would welcome do the warranty work for me. They are associated with Good Sam Warranty.

I have good Sam also. Found out they only cover the component.
No electrical no structure
So if stove quits your covered
Roof leaks. Your not. Covered
Light burns out your covered
Wall or door has problems your not covered
Read the contract close. Ask a lot of questions
Better to find out now instead of when you need it

Thanks everyone- It seems the key here is insurance coverage. Now I know to investigate that further. Since I'll be by myself, I need to make sure I can fix what I can, or be able to take it to a nearby dealer or shop.
It's fun learning all this
Thanks again

In major areas there are mobile mechanics but do a back ground check on them. Most are flakes. Think why they work for them self's
1 fired from all the Rv dealers. Or
2. ?
Just check references and make sure they bill direct to the insurance company

Hi TDG, good heads up. since I'm alone, I wouldn't be using some stranger to come work on my rig who I'll never see again. I agree with you, and I use my intuition.

I'll always go to a reputable shop, where ever I am.

Don't know of any warranty that covers leaks. They think that leaks are a lack of maintenance problem. And most are.

Here is what Good Sam covers,

Mark,

Does Good Sam cover only original equipment, or do they cover aftermarket mods added by the customer that fall into the categories of equipment covered?
