My wife just asked me if the heater would work to keep us warm in an emergency power outage with the slides in the closed position...I'm wondering if some of the floor vents would be covered by a slide floor....anyone know for sure? ...

Yes it will work as long as the battery is up. I extend the slides though. From some of the post here and else where, you can damage a slide by stepping on the edge of the floor wrong. When our slide is in it covers some of the ducts

Depends on your specific floorplan, none of my floor ducts are covered by the slideout. The return air will be slightly restricted, but not enough to keep it from working. But for a long power outage, you will need a small generator to keep the battery charged and of course full propane tanks. I agree, walking on the slideout is not a good idea, but a wedge under the leading edge of the slideout floor will address that concern.
