Faded Front Cap

Unfortunately, I have now joined the ranks of the Faded Front Cap Crew!!! My dealership has already been in contact with Crossroads - they need a quote from a local paint shop - which I will get in a few weeks. What has been the "luck" of the Forum members for those that have had their rigs painted? Good, Bad, Ugly ? How has the paint held up? I am hoping to get the entire cap done - not just the faded area. Not too happy given that the trailer was stored inside for the whole winter (actually for 6 months).....

Our unit is a 2013 29SS purchased in Sep 13. Our cap had started to fade in some spots along the top. I knew I needed to do something before the one year warranty ran out.
Long story short we got it back today. It looks good, better than when we bought the camper. Camping World did the repairs inhouse. How long will it stay this way...? That is the 64 thousand dollar question!!

Washed the roof on ours yesterday and notice the fading of the cap at the top and guess what........
Warranty ran out last month!

Anyone had them painted on their own and if so what was the cost?

Ian

I'm still a big fan of wrapping the front instead of painting.

What do you mean by wrapping?

Vehicle wraps. People wrap cars with a vinyl material. You can make it any colors and designs. I have one designed I've just been too lazy to have it done. Maybe this winter.

I would still talk to dealer or CR. This is a known problem.

Wraps are intriguing. I'm not too sure about the 3-5 yr life expectancy I've been told about but obviously any plastic that is painted WILL fade eventually too so I'm on the fence myself.

I too have the fading front cap. I have a 2014 Crusier 355BL and the warranty ran out in May. Here is some pictures. Very dissappointed after 15 months - (7 months in storage). Crossroads told me to take it to the dealer for a "pre-authorization review". Awaiting the results - not too optimistic. I don't understand why Crossroads or the industry doesn't use a more resilent finished for these caps.

Darrell.....is your Crusier still under warranty?

What color was your cap before repainting? I like the idea. What about re-sale or trade in value when you personalize? I kinda thought about this on the front. But not on the chocolate. It would look better on the yellow creamy color.

Just heard back from the dealer today - Crossroads is going to pony up for the repainting of the front cap. Now I just have to wait for the middle of April 15 to get my rig back out of storage!!!

Thanks Mark. I was more concerned about possible resale or trade value if you deviated from stock as well as possibly changing from chocolate to a color more in line with the yellow ish color like the sides?

Tim , the new ones have the beige front end , so it would look like a newer unit if he were to change colours (colors) I almost went with the beige..
