We are using our new Patriot SK305 for thr first time. When I add water to the fresh water tank I get more flowing back out around the hose than giong into the tank.It acts like its full, but it is only one third full. Is this a common problem, or just me? Any solutions?

This is a common problem. Your hose won't go in the neck far enough so the water back flows. This little item will solve that problem.

Did it take on water for a while and then start overflowing or did it overflow from the start?

You could have a couple of things happening. The monitor wiring could beincorrectly hooked up to the sensors on the tank giving you incorrect readings at the monitor. (this happened to me, the factory had the probes hooked up as if the tank was upside down) If you have a KIB monitor you can obtain the schematic from their website.
Or
Your filler tube vent has a blockage.

X2 what George said. I purchased the shut off filler and it works perfectly. Well worth the price.

Thanks Gball, that item will do it.

I stuck my head under and can see that the fill tube runs uphill so no wonder the water runs out.

I figured out over 10 years ago to forget about the gauges except for the Battery voltage as they are about as accurate as a braindead animate object If they installed a good quality system it would be nice.. We went for years before the gauges and had less problems because you knew enough to check things out and establish a system. I now do the same in every so many days I dump certain ones, works good when you are on the blue tank too! JMHO jb
