We opened our new Sahara from storage yesterday, the temp was about 45 outside. It took 2 hours and 10 minutes of constant running to warm the camper to 65 degrees. Does this seem normal? I had good warm air coming out of the ducts, but the air flowis week. I checked all the duct connections from the furnace and they appear clear. Is there a way to increase the fan speed?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What did you have the fan speed set at. What temp did you set the thermostat at. Two hours and ten minutes seems a little long.

Check the furnace for air leaks, there are 4" round covers on the sides of the furnace for above floor ducting. Sometimes they come loose and you loose air pressure. Also check for leaks around the base of the furnace. While you are there, use aluminum foil tape and seal any air leak you find.

In the basement compartment, remove the rear cover panel, there are two 4" round ducts that connect the main floor duct to the raised floor duct, see if they are loose.

Finally, with a flashlight, inspect the air intake from the outside of the camper, there may be some blockage due to a critter's nest.

It will take a while to warm up the unit - allot of space and they are not that efficient.

It will take a while. Don't forget, all the furniture, carpet, walls, bedding, etc is very cold. All that has to be warmed together.

Thermostat on 66 the fan is on AU, if you switch it higher then the AC fan kicks on blowing in the cold air from the ceiling ducts.

All the connections at the furnace are tight, no leaks.

Sounds like you have the mode set to "Auto". If so, set it to furnace and it should work properly.

Redwing -- When you turn the furnace on does the air condition fan come on, and if it does, does it go off after about 15 minutes Is your thermostate a DOMETIC

The reason I ask is because I had a bad thermostat. When I turned the furnace on the air conditioner fan came on and did not go off, no matter what I did short of turning the whole system off.

It is a dometic and no, I have the fan speed set to auto, just the furnace fan runs. If I change the fan speed to high or low then the AC fan comes on.

This newer thermostat has a switch which allows you to set the fan speed then switch to furnace or ac. the fan speed is on auto other wise the ac fan kicks on and the furnace temp is set to a heating temp. I am getting heat, just the air flow is weak.

Redwing ---- All I can tell you at this point is call CR. You want to talk to Bill Hodge at 260-593-2866 Ext 460, or ask the operator for him. He helped me with the problem I had with the new Dometic thermostate.

As said before. Remove panels in basement. Look at the heat duct. My heating duct was laying on the basement floor. Not connected to the bedroom floor heat duct. They just use foil tape to connect the two. Guess they don't believe on doing things right... Edited by: Ramn4ver

Redwing -- After you check the basement, if you need to contact Bill, you will do better if you call him on the phone. I think any e-mails are put on the back burner.
