Hot water tank electrical problem

The electrical element in the hot water tank causes a shortage .
I emptied the tank and regained power.
We are on the road (Bluff City TN) and no Crossroads service in this area.
Any ideas?(except calling Randy)

IF I understand you correctly, the element is shorted out and causing electrical issues. Turn off the circuit breaker for the hot water heater. This should allow you to fill the water heater and use it on gas only.

Dan,
empty the hot water tank, turn off the circuit breaker, pull the element and plug the opening.
Hardware stores will have the correct size plug.
This will afford you to use the hot water on gas, until you find a dealer with the corred electrode.
Hopefully, you and Shula are having a good time exploring.

Ace sells an element that will fit for 120v. I believe it is about 1300w (maybe 1500w). Pretty sure that's close to the existing wattage. Make sure the one you get is for 120v though.

It was a BAD FACTORY WIRING,it could cause a fire ' I was lucky this time.
