How do you keep from getting water everywhere?

When I disconnect my city water, and or Black Tank flush, I get water all in that areal below the connections. I try to let the pressure of any line bleed out, but no matter, when I disconnect, water runs all down the side over the valves and into the catch plastic lined area around the hookups. Most of this is constructed of wood (luan) and I can already see warping and swelling from just a couple of times.
What are some solutions to this??

Use a hose shut off at the connection. Shut the valve and then remove the hose. To help prevent water damage, spray the compartment floor with a plastisol spray paint. Lowes stock it.

You could have a faulty backflow preventer. I expect water out of the hose, not the RV. Shut off at campground faucet first, then bleed off pressure at a faucet or toilet, then disconnect hose at campground faucet. Let any backflow go back out hose before disconnecting.

I turn off the campground faucet. Then I open the kitchen faucet or the outside shower to relieve the pressure and leave it open. Next, I loosen the hose at the campground faucet to allow water to drain, but I don't fully disconnect the hose so it will stay off the ground. Then, I disconnect the hose from the camper and roll it up, letting the water drain as I roll it up.

yes, use a Y connector on the opposite end,by the hose bib, and after shutting off the water flush, open up the Y side to drain back the hose. No Worries, this got me too, but only 1 time.

Peace

thanks for some great ideas! The city water hose doesn't flow out too much, but the black tank flush does quite a bit. I like the idea of putting a shutoff fitting on the santiflush connector.

the black tank flush does not have a backflow like the city water does. you will get water from the aerator (usually under vanity) back to the inlet on the side . Black water should not be there as it flows from the aerator to the tank. hopefully.

I installed an 8 inch hose that I leave connected to the trailer. The coupler is outside the trailer when I disconnect it this way. Now when I disconnect the water supply hose it is outside the trailer cavity and simply drips on the ground. easy fix.

That under the vanity is a backflow preventer! The aerator for the black tank is in/on/at the tank.

I may be wrong again , but the tank end has a nozzle. the under sink is a combo aerator/backflow preventor that is usually not tight from factory, or put in backwards. If it is leaking ,check to make sure both fittings are tight and check to see if hose from aerator to tank is not kinked...mine was.
