After finding out the dealer wanted at least 2 weeks to fix my noisy slide (warranty) I went to Lipperts website and down loaded the manual on it. A little study and I decided while not a piece of cake it was doable. Especially since they already tried once and it was worse after I got it back.
I first measured the extension of the 2 arms, Hmmm the back arm is extended almost 3/4" furthur than the front. To me that meant the slide was going out crooked (it was) and was part of the problem. Studying the situation the rear slide bar has the actuator attached to it that pushes or pulls the slide. The back is tied to the front by a rack and pinion gear that goes to the front slide. Move the back slide and the gear on it causes the gear to turn the shaft and the other end moves the front slide bar. Ok so far. Then the fun started. I measured the distance from the frame to the extended slide attachment point. The front and back slide were different by almost 3/4". Gauging the pitch of the rack gear that was about 2 teeth different. No wonder it didn't want to work smoothly.
I moved the rear 1 tooth over and every thing straightened out, almost. As calculated my difference was now just under 1/2" and the slide worked a lot smoother. I had to reset the in/out travel and it all seemed to work a lot better.
I'm learning as I go but sorta have it figured out. I stopped for now and will go back later and try the get the slide extension the same and then adjust the in/out again.
A note. On mine the actuator is on the rear arm and it sets the in/out travel. The front arm is gear driven and should track the rear. The in/out adjustment on the front is by loosening the slide attachment to the arm and physically moving the slide until it matches the rear. Of course it helps if both arms are starting and stopping the same distance from the frame which is set by the gear drive between the 2 slides. Mine was off abt 2-3 teeth. Whether the factory did it or the dealer trying to "fix" it I don't know.
Any hints or tips are welcome but it's fun and my slide now works a lot better and will be better yet when I finish.
And it didn't take 2 weeks..... Abt 2 hours, most of that was studying the situation and reading the instructions.
