I want to replace the stock uncomfortable mattress in my Cruiser 5th wheel. I measured the plywood platform and it is 56 x 76. I'm pretty sure the mattress is a short queen, 60x75 and it hangs over the edges about 2 inches on each side. I want to buy a gel foam mattress but am wondering if I have to purchase a custom built which means no satisfaction guarantee and more expense.

Does anyone know if I can use a standard 60x75 and have the same overhang with a gel foam?

Thanks

Check out the mattress toppers instead. You could buy them at any large box store like JCP, Kohls, Walmart. Here is a website to check out http://www.thefoamfactory.com They have many fine products.

We added a 3 in memory foam topper to ours and it made all the difference. $99 at Sams.

We
purchased a Verlo standard size queen with a pillow top and added a 3" memory foam topper. The slide pushes the mattress
TIGHT up against the dresser. I would be worried if the gel foam adds and length to the mattress.</span>

You
will need to be a contortionist to get the new stiff mattress into the bedroom
and on to the pallet. It is a snug fit.</span>

Thanks for the response.

Tried the memory foam topper. While it helped, still wake up with hip and back pain.

On another tack. I commented to my Dr about hip pain and constant turning during the night. His answer was eliminate the caffeine after noon and especially before going to bed. I was drinking diet coke in the afternoon. I switched to diet root beer (no caffeine) and it actually worked. I don't know what caffeine had to do with it but it worked for me. My problem with the hip pain was both in the rv (memory topper) and the house (pillow top).

YMMV

This is why we got a Verlo mattress. We went to the
factory outlet and tried out several mattresses and then chose a firm mattress.
I also use a sciatic pillow between my knees to relieve the pain as well as a
rolled up towel under my back at the location suggested by the VA Physical
Therapists. I am VERY happy with the results.

My
hip pain is from two very thin disks that allow nerve cord to be pinched.
Proper therapy has been helpful. Jumping from the hanger bay of an aircraft
carrier has had its side effects but it was better than getting beaten to death
with a 4” fire hose on the loose.</span>
