I am purchasing a new Cruiser 30SK for Camping World. Please provide your experience with extended warranties.
My wife wants the piece of mind with having the coverage. I don't want to get ripped off.

I would wait until your one year factory warranty is about up before you buy an extended warranty. Say you buy a 5 year warranty, it starts the day you purchase the trailer so you are really only getting 4 years and paying for 5. I waited until our 2 year warranty was up before I bought our extended warranty.

George,<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /></span>

Congratulations on your RV purchase!</span>

Hunter has a good idea. Make use of the
factory warranty and document any problems during the warranty period.
Hopefully you won’t have any.</span>

</span>

Here is an article concerning extended
warranty agreements:</span></span>

http://www.rvforum.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_zine&amp;view=articles&amp;la yout=landing&amp;Itemid=82</span></span>

</span>

We know exactly how you feel. Carefully do
your research and read all of the small print. I am sure that there are
reputable extended warranty companies but the one sold to us by our first
dealer WAS NOT.</span></span>

We traveled South across the Wisconsin
boarder to purchased our very first used 5</span>th</span> Wheel RV. Seeing as we knew nothing of RV’s
or RVing we purchased an extended warranty. Each time we returned to the
dealership with a problem it was always the same reply; “that is as a
pre-existing condition and not covered”. At one time the repair technician left
me under my RV and let me know that if the fresh water tank were leaking when
he returned that it’s replacement would be covered; no matter that the mounting
bracket was defective and the tank was about to fall out. I towed the RV back
home and fixed it myself.</span></span>

We were frustrated and dumped the RV and the
Insurance at a loss. We requested a refund from the dealership on the unused
warranty. For months we waited; we called and received no reply. After 5 months
we finally called the warranty folks to learn that the dealership had received
our check months earlier and never refunded us. We were promptly issued a check
directly from the warranty company.</span></span>

</span>

Despite this poor experience we went
elsewhere and purchased a new Crossroads Cruiser with the 2-5 warranty. We have
happily been workamping since. The problems we had with the new RV surfaced
within the first year and were either repaired by the dealership or we took
care of them ourselves.

Was it built before 9/1/2012? If not they changed it to a 1 year warranty after that build date.

Just a reminder, the factory warranty
requires the annual inspections are documented on the attached form. I would
also keep all receipts for the inspections as proof.</span>

Good Afternoon George,

30SK has a nice floor plan. Take notice of those forum
members that are having problems with the bed frame detaching from the slide
wall. To avoid this happening to yourselves; make sure to pull the mattress
away from the slide before raising the mattress pallet </span>when gaining access to the storage area.

It seems that the factory installed screws don’t always
get fastened into a wall stud and easily pull out of the paneling.

See you down the trail……………………………. Kamper Dave

I really appreciate the information. Camping World includes free annual inspection. I don't know for how long it is free, but cost is not a big consideration to maintain the warranty.

Cost to maintain a warrenty is a big deal to me. If they did their job right they would not need a roof inspection.

As I replied in another post:
I questioned the value of a extended warranty when I purchased my
Crossroads Patriot at he Hershey RV show this past September. What
really convinced was looking at all the electronics and electrical
components on the new RV.
After going back and forth with my wife she reminded about the problems
we had to pay out of pocket on our older 5th wheel. Probably set me
back 4 grand over the past 7 years. That 5er was not as advanced as our new CR and we finally decided to go with the extended warranty.
On
the forum you will find many do not believe in the extended warranty
and almost just as many do. On another RV forum I ran a poll asking if
you bought a new RV with an extended warranty. The results were 25
yes--26 no.
Always
going to be your own choice based on your own experiences or for you on
the advice of others along with your feelings about and extended
warranties. I also purchased a EW with my new truck. A lot of computer
and electronics also.
BTW
the warranty I bought was a Good Sams warranty for 7 years. At the
show the manufacturer payed $1000 of the total price of $2200.00 as an
incentive.

For me it also was a feeling of security.

I thank you for the additional information. I have read the Good Sam information packet and exclusions. If I buy, it will be Good Sam. I am more confident in there product over others.

First Annual inspection - I was charged 1/2 hour labor - $65.00 (Camping World). In the future if they have to replace seals or caulking I am sure the price will go up.

I did not purchase the extended warranty but with all of the trouble we have had so far I am considering one through Good Sam before the 2 year warranty expires this year. I am a life time member and have the Good Sam emergency road service.

I have had excellent service from the emergency road service.
