Hi All!
Just a quick question
We have a 2012 Cruiser CF27RLX, has a satellite hookup behind the tv. We are thinking about going to dish at home, and have a friend who has an extra dish "dish" on a tripod he is going to give me. Question is, where can the receiver sit in the coach? Jack is behind the tv, and I don't think it will sit on the shelf under the TV if it is the same size as our cable box. There is an open type storage area next to the Jensenunder the tv, but it for sure won't fit in there without taking out the fake back, and maybe not even then. Where do you guys put it?
Thanks!!

I don't know your rig but mine sits under the TV on the next shelf area down. I have the Dish VIP 722 which is pretty thin compared to other models. (3"H X 16"W.

I have the smallest DVR receiver that Directv makes and I mounted it sideways, just to the right of the TV. I used two aluminum straps and rubber to cushion mount it on the cabinet. My floor plan has a desk under the TV and I didn't want to use up the desk space.

Stan, How deep is the receiver front to back, That's the problem I think I might have. I installed a WD live on the top of the shelf, and it barely fits and they aren't very deep, 4 to5 inches.
Thanks!

No desk here, Just a shelf right under the tv, roughly 6 inches front to back (at a guess, really need to measure)
Will try to get a picture this weekend so yall can see what I mean!
Thanks guys!

Wow, that's a shallow shelf area. My 722 receiver is 13inches deep. Maybe mounting sideways like Larry mentioned would be the way to go.

OK, Took a pic this weekend with the old cell phone will try and get it in here so you guys can see what I am trying to figure out. That's a WD live sitting on the shelf (they are small), slide comes in just in front of this area so I don't have a lot of wall space on the side either. Hope the picture helps! Thanks guys!

Bob,
Several options to consider mounting the receiver vertically. One, install it on the interior wall to the right of the TV, put it high enough to avoid the thermostat. Two, mount it on the exterior wall to the left of the TV but above the top of the slide out. My Directv receiver is less than 2" high x 14" wide by 10" deep, but really needs 11" with the cable connections. I don't know about other receiver remotes, but mine can be programmed to work via RF (radio frequency) and doesn't need line of sight to work.
Are the lower cabinets deeper than the shelf? If so, that is another option, but the receiver can overheat w/o adequate ventilation.
A more complicated option would be some sort of fold down shelf with the receiver mounted to the shelf, but there are a number of concerns with this approach.

FWIW...if you are going to use Dish at home you may want to consider a Tailgater instead of the tripod. Takes up a lot less space, much easier to set up at camp and you can take a receiver from home and get most of your regular programing (local channels up to about 150 miles). We tried the tripod and it was a real PITA and then ordered the Tailgater from Amazon and have used it daily on two 5-week trips this year.

Do you have to have a special receiver for the tailgater. I was told you had to buy a special receiver and you could use only one TV or if use two had to watch same channel.
