I picked up the 06 29RK this morning in Temple, took it to a trailer shop had it inspected and headed home to Benbrook.

I am so impressed as how she pulled... I did not know I had a 5er behind the Dodge...

I got 13.5 mpg empty, 190miles.

I weight the truck on the way down and again after I hooked up,
Here is what the CAT Scales showed.

Truck

Steers 4480
Drives 3320
Total 7800

Truck With 5er

Steers 4420
Drives 8400
Trailer 3260
Total 16080.

I had to stop at Camping World and get some shocks, water hose, leveling blocks and dump hose.

I am ready to set her up..

Mike

Sweet! And now the fun begins. A word of warning, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, go to camping world! You will not be able to leave the store without spending about $400.00and that's for stuff you just can't be with out!
Have fun and enjoy the rig!

just curious about your drive axle weight with the 5'er hooked up. It went from 3320 lbs to 8400 lbs. Unless I missed something that would be 5000 lbs pin weight. Just wondering.

Also, the trailer axle weight is under 3300 lbs?? Something is not right with the numbers although the total seems pretty close to what I would expect for an empty 29RK and the tow vehicle.

From looking at the numbers, it seems that the front trailer axle was on the scale at the same time the truck rear axle was weighted. But on the other hand, it seems like a pretty difficult mistake to make with a single scale. Now, if there were dual scales, then depending on the lengths, it may have been impossible to keep the truck's front axle off the front scale and at the same time keep both trailer axles on the second scale. Next time, use just a single scale. First, truck front axle. Second, truck rear axle. Third, both trailer axles. Will require more time and three stops, but it may clear up the error.

I am wondering the same thing... if I was pulled to far forward on the CAT scale.

Something is totally amiss. Your steer axle should not go down. There will also be some of the trailer wt transferred to the steer axle.

Also, it appears that you couuld possibly transposed someof the numbers.

One way to find out is weigh the trailer by itself.

You said that you couldn't tell the 5ver was backthere. I can also assure you that if had 5000#s on the pin that sucker would be knocking the rubber off the tires when it bottomed out on rough pavement.

My first guess would be like others. You had the front trailer axle on the rears scale. A Cat scale is set up for big rigs but I had no problem weighing mine on 3 different sections and 3 weights, front axle, rear axle, and trailer axles. It takes a little careful positioning and you have to get out and look but it can be done. The hard part is reaching the button to get them to turn on the scale.

I will weigh the rig again, It could have been that I was not positioned right on the scales.
It will be a couple of weeks before I can do this, working extra hours next week and I am flying to California on Sat Oct 8th for a week.
Thanks to all for their inputs...

Mike

Take a look at your weights again. Truck weighed out as 7800, both combined is 16080.

That leavs 8280 for the RV, this is about right for that unit.

Only thing youre missing is you pin weight.

Next time across the scales make sure the steering axle is on the front set of scales, next make sure the truck drive axle are located on the next partition (scale) back.

last, make sure the RV axles (both) are located on the next partition (scales) back.

Try to get as close to center as possible on the scales. You should be able to determine your pin weight fairly accurate with this one weight. Only thing that will cause it to be different is if you have added a bunch of "stuff" since you first weighed.

looks like you might have had your rig too far up, like your front trailer wheels were weighed with your drive axle.
