I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on a new 30SK. I asked about having slide topper awnings installed. The dealer quoted me over $1200 for the 3 awnings with installation. He uses A&E vinyl awnings. I am not familiar with this product. Does anyone have any experience with them? Is this a reasonable price? Thanks.

Do not get the A&E. The fabric is very thin. Get the Carefree of Colorado ones. Do a web search for Carefree slide topper problems and than another for A&E slide topper problems and you'll find very little for one and a bunch for the other.

The Carefree are a better unit. Find a CW or other dealer to install the Carefree model if your dealer can't.

I find my A&E slide toppers (factory installed) to be cheaper in material and appearance then my previous Sunnybrook with Carefree's.

Our dealer actually advised against getting slide awnings as not being worth the money for the benefit achieved. The big problem was in getting to water and debris that accumulates under the awning especially in windy wooded areas. So we'll buy a squeegee instead.

I got the slide awning and it is more difficult to get underneath. The other problem is in the Wind they make a lot of noise. This was Nebraska, Wyoming wind which was blowing CONSTANTLY. I still think I will like them most of the time as in Utah campgrounds the wind does not always blow... And I should not need to get under the awning much at all because the awning should have stopped most of the debris, right... <GRIN>

Only had the trailer for 2 months and waiting for the snow to melt so we shall see..

We live in the South, camp at a lot of our state parks, Lots of pine straw twigs pine cones and rain best investment for us. Stand back and watch the slide come in a watch all of that junk falling off

4 years, fulltiming, next month, factory installed and no problems. Saves a lot of work cleaning top of slide before closing up. Been in all kinds of conditions and never had anything get between the the awning and slide top.

Just starting our fourth season with the slide awnings and wouldn't want to be without them. Great when it snows, just bump them in about 6-8 inches at a time and the snow slides off. Same with a lot of rain. Â*Sure beats getting up on top with a broom. Also great when parked up the pine trees, keeps the pine needles out without getting on top.Â*
Yes the wind can create a lot of noise but I think the trade off is worth it.

I agree the awnings are worth the money. In the south, they also shade the top of the slide and keep the interior cooler.

I sure agree on them keeping it cooler. When we were in AZ. the last year with the HH we didn't have the awnings. The little slide with the pc and tv just happened to be on the west side. It got nasty in the afternoon.

I definitely recommend the toppers. We have the A & E factory installed ones on both slide outs and have had zero problems with them. They seem to have held up nicely.
And, as others have said, the pros out way the cons.
