10 ply tires upgrade ?? I have a 09 F150 King ranch super cab with the 5.5 bed and when I went up to the33.6ft. 29RLX I gained around 850 lbs.and 3 ftmore than what I was using and got quit abit of sway at the rear of the 150. I checked with the Ford dealer & 2 other tire Co's and found I had 4 ply Michelin on the 18.in rims and was told they had soft side walls for a car like ride . Has anyone had this trouble with the Michelin's being soft on the side wall's ? I can order LT 275/65R18 BF Goodrich 10 ply . for $ 1084.00, and that should make it stiffer on the side and cut down on the sway ? what do you think guys ???.

That will give you more sway. The Lt tires are a stiffer side wall designed for heavier loads IE Trailer towing. Years ago when I had a Durango I replaced the stock tires with LT' s Cleaned up that problem. Keep on mind that you will ride rougher

I think you will need the 10 ply plus airbags on that truck.

I have the Michelin ATXII's in an LT on my 2500HD. I did notice some play after installing them due to the soft sidewall. But the other benefits from these tires faroutweigh a little bit a sway.JMO,I think a 3/4 ton truck will help out better thannew tires.

I installed LT275/65R18 Michelin's on my 06 F150. I think I can now notice a little more stiffness in them but not much. The ride is a little rougher when not towing. Over all I am pleased with them. I did get a real surpise when I bought them. The best place to buy was from the Ford dealer. Beat Costco by $150. Warrenty at any Ford dealer.

Now I need to get rid of Mission St's on the the trailer.

Thanks guy'sfor the input I'm hoping the 10 ply is all we will need after and talking to the Ford dealer at length on this because he looked at and gave us the listing of all the HD stuff they have on this 150 King Ranch with the towing package and it really surprised the heck out of me

I did think of the air bags and might still need them but I hope not but even if so it will still beat the %$#^$%^ out of the price of a new F 250 2x4 Lariat !! Witch is our next step I Guess

Well I did go ahead and order the new LT275/65R18 B FGoodrich 10 ply 's today from a dealer in Harrison AR. a town 85 miles away and saved over $ 100 from the what the local Ford dealer wanted .The Parts man said he had 10 ply over size put on his F 150 and made a big inprovment and the shop reset the coumputer on to read theright mph . I won't know untell the end of march how it will feel towing the Cruiser because we have it put away for the winter to save on insurance .

TIM: Just put 10 ply Michelin 265/75 R16 LSX MS2 all weathers on my 09 Chev 2500 HD last week - much stiffer ride than the 6 Ply 245/75 R16 Goodrichs I had on them - Towing a 335SS Provincial ( 9998 lbs dry) and the old tires were spinning in the wet ( they had 70,000 KM on them) - I got the ten ply for the greater carrying capacity.( 3403 lbs / tire vs 3000 lbs in 8 ply). The new tires should help your sway but also beefing up the suspension would probably help more. I am rated to pull 12,300 lbs ( as a trailer - note that the new model Chev differentiate between trailer and 5er) and that compresses my springs about 1.5 inches and almost takes the curve out of the springs - not close to bottom. With the F150 how much are you rated to tow and more importantly how compressed are the springs? If the back end of the truck is low the sway will be more pronounced than with a level or slightly high back end.

I know that on the Chev there is a world of difference between the suspension on a 1500 and a 2500 HD - does the ford have the same sort of difference?
