Has anyone added - or have the "hydraulic lift arms" on their large storage compartment doors? The little plastic clip is insufficient to hold the door. Several times throughout the summer the door fell. I asked my dealer about this - he said you can't install the arms on this door - funny because there is one on the opposite side! This is the bigger door just below the outside speakers on the entrance side. Thanks guys for any help or advice.

Yes I put two on mine last spring and it's sure is nice. This door is extremely heavy and a must for safety.
Got them from on the internet (sorry I don't have info, it's in the camper) but Camping World does sell the same brand I have.

Never had any problems with the doors on either side coming down so I didn't see a need for it. I prefer that they open all the way up and flat against the unit - makes it easier for my tall frame and sore back to get items in and out.

The large door in by the front door was the pain but I did put them on the front access door too. When under the front loading/unloading or checking batteries I always hit it which released the clip.
I used www.Hatchlift.com and put two on each door. The larger front door now goes up 60 to 75 degrees which leaves plenty of head room for us shorter people.

Would have to agree with you here. Have not had any problem with ours. Not having them lay up next to the wall of the unit would be a major pain in the......The only place that I would consider is the front access door near the hitch.

I got tired of the front storage door falling on my back and/or head. When open, the angled up door would easily drop loose w/o even being touched. Complained to CR and dealer and they replaced the latch with a two piece latch similar to some of the main door latches. Problem solved.

Pics of the set-up from the guys that opted with the lift arms would be great. I got a rude surprise when the door dropped on my melon this summer. I am an old Navy guy, there isn't much left upstairs, the last thing I need is a storage door knocking out the remaining grey matter!!!!!!

Can't get all 4 photos loaded in a album so I will send them one at a time.
This is showing the Front storage door. I put two on each door to added support. Adjusted it to just below the overhang.

This is showing the added support plywood block that came in the kit needed for the front door only.

This is showing the large storage door on the side by the front door. Two kits required for this door also.

Just another view of the Large storage door. Plenty for height (for me anyway) to clear the head.

Good mod - - another one for me - tired of having the front storage door closing on me.

I found this so far for kits:

http://www.hatchlift.com/index.php?r...;product_id=52

Looks like I will need 2 standard kits and 2 small kits for the awning side and front doors. ($39.99/kit).

I think I will order the kits.

If you want to purchase parts and build the kits - found this site

http://www.kencon.us/php/product.list.php

Info from this site - http://keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5099

20" 30lb 10mm gas shock. *1 per side.

10mm ball gas brackets. *90 degree brackets 2 per side.

Simpson Tie Plates. *1 1/2 per side.

3/16 pop rivets. 5 per side.

1/2" length 1/4" hex head screws. 10 upper, 2 lower per side.

Tube of PL premium construction adhesive.

When I receive the kits I will provide dimensions on the parts.

I use the photobucket.com web site. Upload the pictures and then paste the "direct" link into the "image URL" . Don't forget to delete the http:// that is already in the spot.
